Horsham Named As One Of State's Safest Towns
A new study by ElitePersonalFinance ranked Horsham Township No. 48 out of 100 in Pennsylvania.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The township has been ranked among the safest places to live in Pennsylvania.
A new study by ElitePersonalFinance has Horsham Township ranked No. 48 among the 100th safest places to live for 2024.
Neighboring Montgomery Township was ranked right after Horsham, according to the study.

When it came to a population between 10,000 and 30,000 residents, the study found Horsham Township to be No. 20 overall for safe places.
"Proud to be on the list," Horsham Community Policing Services said.

ElitePersonalFinance extracted the latest data from the FBI crime statistics in the United States.
Violent crime was used as the main criteria. A formula was used to come up with a crime score by taking the number of total crimes and dividing that number by the town's population.
"This way, safer cities got the lowest score, and those more vulnerable to crimes got higher scores," Elite said.
The cities that did not report crimes to the FBI and those under 5,000 residents were not included in the list.
Horsham, with a population of 5,000 residents, had seven violent crimes, according to the FBI crime stats. That made its crime score 0.26.
Horsham has had a few violent crimes over the past year.
There was the mother who strangled her 11-year-old son to death last April. She was recently found guilty of the crime.
There was also a fatal shooting at a cemetery.
A shooting at the Whitemarsh Memorial Park cemetery last April left a Philadelphia man dead and another injured. Authorities said the shooting was justified.
