Horsham Police Honored For Tornado Relief

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The tornado touched down in the township and nearby Upper Dublin Township in September 2021, ripping through both communities and causing damage that still exists in some parts today.

In Upper Dublin Township, the tornado destroyed the police station and the municipal building.

That's when the Horsham Township Police Department lent a helping hand, offering Upper Dublin Township mutual aid for processing and detaining those involved in a crime since the cell block was also severaly damaged.

The aid continued until December 2025, when the new Upper Dublin Police Station was opened along with the new municipal building.

Upper Dublin Police Chief Francis X. Wheatley recently attended the Horsham Township Council meeting to present Horsham Police Chief Scott Fida with an appreciation plaque.

The police chief also thanked the Horsham Council for four years of aid and assistance.
