Horsham Raises Suicide Awareness With Purple Pinwheels

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The statistics are alarming: 14 township residents have died by suicide since last year.

At last Wednesday's Horsham Township Council meeting, Township Manager Bill Walker mentioned the purple pinwheels and the sign on the front lawn of the township building were for suicide awareness and suicide prevention efforts during National Suicide Prevention Week from Sept. 8-14.

Walker stated that six township residents died by suicide last year and eight so far this year.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and the township displayed the pinwheels in remembrance of the 100 lives lost to suicide in 2024 in Montgomery County.

"Let’s come together to raise awareness, break the stigma, and offer hope," township officials said.
