Horsham Road Intersection Project Takes Step Forward

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Following a public hearing, Horsham Township Council voted to take a step forward on its Horsham Road and Limekiln Pike Intersection Improvement Project.

The council held a public hearing Monday night and then authorized an ordinance granting an easement on three township-owned properties to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for the project to progress.

Township Manager Bill Walker said preliminary engineering began on the project in 2016.

Plans are for the widening of both Horsham Road and Limekiln Pike to provide more capacity through the busy intersection. Other upgrades include new traffic lights and five-foot sidewalks will be installed at the intersection, as well as Americans With Disabilities Act-compliant ramps and a new pedestrian-crossing signal.

Walker said that the township is wrapping up right-of-way acquisition with three properties left. He said the township started trying to negotiate with 41 property owners for right-of-way.

The one township right-of-way going to PennDOT is for a detention basin at Cedar Hill Road Park. Another is on a field at Deep Meadow Park and a third is by the police station.
