Horsham Seeks Residents to Participate in Tap Water Testing in Homes

Horsham is looking for volunteers to participate in a "tap water testing" in their homes. Will you participate?

HORSHAM, PA — Horsham is looking for volunteers to participate in a "tap water testing" in their homes, the township announced Monday.

An independent third party will be contracted by the township and the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority to execute the tests.

Officials are looking to test about 100 homes across the township.

The plan is part of Horsham's efforts at the remediation of harmful perfluorochemicals (PFCs) found in Horsham’s water supply as a result of contamination from firefighting foams on the Naval Air Base in Willow Grove.

Officials said that they believe test results, which will be made publicly available this fall, are expected to show that levels of PFCs in resident tap water are "well below" the new EPA Lifetime Health Advisory of 70 parts per trillion (ppt).

A third-party collection company, Private Utility Enterprises, Inc., will contact participants and make arrangements to collect a water sample from their home at a time that is convenient to the resident, including evenings and weekends, officials said.

Sampling will take less than half an hour.
