"Mac’s primary goal is to keep kids safe and help the fight against child exploitation and human trafficking," the chief said. "Mac can also provide emotional support for victims of crimes."

K-9 Mac was trained by Jordan Detection K-9 in Indiana and was acquired through donations from Operation Underground Railroad, The Asplundh Foundation, and State Rep. Melissa Cerrato.

Residents can also stop and say hello to Mac and his handler if they're in public and not on a crime scene, police said.

Police ask that residents give K-9 Mac a follow on Instagram @esd_k9_mac to see everything he does.
