Keith Valley Students Join Effort to Feed the Hungry

Students make bowls to donate to Empty Bowl event on Nov. 12

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger with a simple premise: groups and individuals create handcrafted bowls and invite the community to select a bowl at a community dinner of soup and bread. Diners make a cash donation for the bowl and keep the bowl as a reminder of the many people throughout the world who do not have food to fill their bowls. The money raised is donated to organizations working to end hunger and food insecurity. Since September, Keith Valley students have been making beautiful ceramic bowls that they will contribute to the 25th Annual Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner that will be held Nov. 12, 2018, at Arcadia University.

Dinner will be served in the historic Grey Towers Castle on Arcadia University’s campus. Attendees choose a ceramic bowl when they enter Grey Towers. Many artists, school and community groups are contributing bowls, which will be filled with tasty soups and desserts donated by area businesses, restaurants, and individuals from Arcadia University and the surrounding community.

All of proceeds will be shared between two agencies whose mission is to address poverty and hunger: Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network and Rise Against Hunger.
