KV Teacher Selected as 'Partner in Learning'

A teacher has been selected by Microsoft Corp. as one of 102 finalists to display the innovative ways she is using technology in and beyond the classroom at the Microsoft Partners in Learning 2012 US Forum this summer.
Lora Davis, who teaches eighth-grade at the school, was selected for her project, “The Power of Persuasion: Pack a Powerful Punch with a Multimedia Approach.” The initiative involves having language arts students develop multimedia presentations designed to convince Warren Buffett, one of our country’s most generous philanthropists, to write a “big check” to their designated foundations.
Students used a compelling mix of words, images, audio and narration in the multiple presentation formats, simulating the process of real world work. They learned to communicate effectively, research, write, edit and use technology, Davis said.
