Late Rally Helps Horsham Legion Defeat Cedarbrook
Horsham's team improved to 10-5 in the American Legion baseball league by defeating the Cedarbrook Angels 4-3.
Horsham's Legion team used a two-run double by junior pitcher Zach Crim in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete a late-inning rally and stun the Cedarbrook Angels by a 4-3 victory.
Crim hurled a complete game, allowing just a trio of unearned runs in the third inning. He collected the win, improving him to 6-0 on the season. More impressively, the right hander has not allowed an earned run in 38.2 innings this season.
"He has pitched tremendous all year," said Horsham's head coach Jamie Abercrombie. "He hasn't given up an earned run at this point in the season. He definitely is worthy of being an All-Star ... and he's a very effective pitcher in this league."

Horsham began scoring in the bottom of the first when shortstop Brett Saverio and center fielder Benji Abercrombie led off the game with singles. A pair of errors led to the first two runs of the game.
But, Cedarbrook took the lead in the third, with the big blow coming on a two-run double to right center field. Both runs were unearned, the result of errors. A third run would score on a throwing error by the first baseman.

Horsham's bats remained silent for the next several innings. Thankfully, Crim's pitching kept them in the game, and in the bottom of the sixth, it was his double that ultimately won the game.
"I actually was pleased the whole game with our effort at the plate," Abercrombie said. "I just didn't think we got the results we wanted to. I knew if we could stay in it and scratch across some runs, the way Crim was going on the mound, he was going to hold them to just the three runs. We know what we're getting out of him and I wouldn't trade the guys we have at the plate for anybody."
Cedarbrook's pitcher Alex Caringi pitched five strong innings, and was removed from the game after allowing a leadoff double in the bottom of the sixth inning. Harry Rosenberg replaced Caringi on the mound, and was hit with the loss.
"This definitely was a big win for us," Abercrombie said. "Especially coming up with a short roster because of senior week going on."
With six games remaining in the 2011 season, Horsham now boasts a 10-5 record, good for second place in the eight-team league. The top four teams qualify for the postseason, meaning Horsham's a virtual lock to participate in July's postseason tournament.
