Leadership Team Grows at Reach Cyber Charter School
Hatboro resident Shelia Perez joins statewide public cyber charter school
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Nov. 9, 2018) – As family interest in cyber schools continues to grow, Reach Cyber Charter School has appointed seven new directors and program heads at the full-time, tuition-free, public cyber charter school serving students in grades K-12 statewide.
“We’re proud to expand our team of highly qualified educators and administrators in order to serve our growing student body,” said Jane Swan, school leader at Reach Cyber Charter School. The cyber school now educates more than 2,900 students throughout Pennsylvania. “Students respond so positively to the individual, personalized learning and flexible pacing we are able to offer, which is a real testament to the talented educators we have supporting our students and families” Swan said.
Serving students virtually across the state of Pennsylvania, Reach Cyber staff members are certified Pennsylvania-based administrators and teachers specially training in the nuances of online education. In fact, 97 percent of parents surveyed in the school’s annual Parent Satisfaction Survey said they were satisfied with the helpfulness of their students’ teachers, and 93 percent agreed that teachers improved the learning experience.

Reach Cyber Charter School delivers an award-winning curriculum with STEM enrichment opportunities, engaging electives, technology tools, and online and in-person social experiences for families who want an individualized approach to education. Reach Cyber’s flexible pacing options allow students to choose from a traditional calendar option, year-round option, or for high school students, an accelerated schedule, to best meet their academic and scheduling needs.
The following staff members are taking on new roles at Reach Cyber this school year:

Sheila Perez of Hatboro is the new assistant manager of special education at Reach Cyber. Last school year Perez was a high school learning support teacher with the cyber school. She brings 18 total years of educational experience to her new role, as well as eight years in the cyber school world. Perez will assist in monitoring all Reach Cyber students who require special education services.
LeeAnn Ritchie of Sunbury, Reach Cyber’s former elementary assistant principal, is taking on the role of the school’s lead principal. Ritchie is a proven leader in K-12 education with 20 years of experience as an educator and administrator in Pennsylvania. Her focus is on continually improving student performance and providing best practice support for teachers and administrators.
Alicia Swope of Hershey, is the newest assistant high school principal for Reach Cyber previously teaching fifth grade. Swope has a strong background in public education, teaching students of all ages. Prior to her work at Reach Cyber, Swope’s background included serving as a liaison between administrators and fellow teachers; and piloting and writing school curriculum, health and safety standards, curriculum requirements, developmental guidelines and enrichment programs.
Rachel Parker, Reach Cyber’s previous manager of counseling, will lead the school’s counseling program as the new director of counseling. Reach Cyber’s counseling staff seeks to maximize each student’s unique potential, cultivating their interpersonal and community relationships, facilitating post-secondary planning, and inspiring lifelong learning.
Erik Wiedman of Mechanicsburg, Reach Cyber’s former high school counselor, will now support the school as manager of counseling.
Heather Berger of Orwigsburg is now Reach Cyber’s assistant principal of elementary school. Prior to this position, Berger was a fifth grade learning support teacher and special education lead for the school’s elementary grades. In her new role, Berger helps to create a positive learning environment and ensures educational strategies are in place to support effective learning for all students.
Gregory McCurdy of Harrisburg joins the Reach Cyber staff as director of special education. He brings more than two decades of experience to the position after holding special education supervisor and teacher roles with the Central Dauphin School District.
