Let There Be Light

Crews are working to install lights for two Horsham Little League fields.

Crews are out literally laying the groundwork for the installation of light towers at two fields used by Horsham Little League.

Contractors worked this week digging trenches at so that eight 60-foot-high can be installed by early to mid-January, according to Little League President Kevin Wall.

"We expect to add close to 200 additional slots to the baseball and softball schedules giving the kids more opportunity to play Little League games," Wall said in an e-mail to Patch. "The lights also allow Horsham to host Little League district and sectional tournaments and perhaps a state championship tournament in the next few years."

For the upcoming season - which gets underway April 13 with an opening night ceremony and two games - Wall said he expects close to 1,000 players in the baseball and softball programs.

The fields that will be lit with this upcoming season are field 4 for baseball and field 9 for softball.
