Local Lawmaker Holds Disability Awareness Walk In Hatboro

"Funding the care for people with disabilities is important and representative of the character of our society."

HATBORO, PA -- Pennsylvania State Rep. Murt held his annual Disability Awareness Walk April 3 to draw attention to the needs, both financial and physical, of those with special needs.

"Thanks to everyone, including Kencrest, the Arc Alliance and all the families from the area who took part," Murt's office said.

The event took palce at Hatboro Baptist Church on 32 N. York Road.

The goal of the walk is to support and raise community awareness of individuals with disabilities.

The route of the walk was approximately 0.6 miles. It started at Hatboro Baptist Church, proceeded south to Horsham Road, crossed York Road and returned north on York Road back to the church.

“It is critical that those with special needs have the proper support and access to programs to enrich their quality of life,” Murt said in a statement.

The walk had over 50 participants, according to KenCrest Chief Operating Officer Dale W. Beck.

"The purpose of the walk was to raise awareness that people with disabilities matter," Beck added. "And that funding the care for people with disabilities is important and representative of the character of our society."
