Local Scouts collect over 250 bags of food for Lehman food pantry

Scouts from Hatboro Cub Scout Pack 17 and Boy Scout pack 81 collect food for the Lehman food pantry

On June 12, scouts and siblings from Cub Scout Pack 17 and Boy Scout Troop 81 collected food donations from across Hatboro for the Lehman Church food pantry. This is the first scout led summer food drive within Hatboro. The scouts collected more than 250 bags of groceries.

Normally scouts do a single food drive in November known as Scouting for Food. After speaking with pantry managers, it became known that the summer months tend to be harder on the food pantry as food drives tend to run around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. After hearing that there are some occasions that the food pantry runs out and has to turn people away, the scouts decided to act.

This food drive was made a success by the volunteerism of our local scouts and the exceptional generosity of the families of Hatboro. Special thanks to the local area supermarkets (Wegmans, Weis, and ACME) who supplied paper bags to be distributed.
