Longtime Hatboro Fire Company Member, Police Chief, Passes Away

Edward O. Stauch Jr. served for a police department, fire company, or military branch for almost his entire adult life.

Edward O. Stauch Jr., Life Member of the Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro, passed away on Sunday, fire officials said.

Stauch, who was 80 at the time of his passing, was the former Chief of Police for Upper Moreland Township. He retired from the post in 2000.

Stauch joined the Hatboro fire company when he was 18, in 1953. He served there for 20 years, becoming a Life Member in 1959.

He was in the National Army Guard Reserves from 1952 to 1966, and served in the Upper Moreland Township police department for over 40 years, eventually becoming Chief.

“Ed especially enjoyed spending time at his mountain home with family and friends. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing, gardening, and grilling,” his obituary reads.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday at 9 a.m. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, located at 501 Easton Road in Willow Grove.

His funeral will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Olney in Philadelphia, at 5900 North 5th Street.
