McCouch Holds Off Horsham Challenger In Unofficial Election Results

Hatboro's four Democratic councilwomen also retained their seats in Tuesday's general election, according to unofficial tallies.

HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Horsham Council President Mark McCouch outlasted a challenge to retain his seat. At the same time, a Democratic newcomer will join the board based on unofficial results from Tuesday's general election.

Meanwhile, the four Democratic incumbents on the Hatboro Borough Council all retained their posts, according to unofficial results from the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

With 100 percent of Montgomery County's 426 precincts reporting, McCouch outlasted Democratic challenger Ellen Zschunke by 22 votes, garnering 3,977 votes to 3,955 for Zschunke.

Democratic newcomer Samatha Slaff topped the four candidates with 4,055 votes in winning a council seat while Republican challenger Stephen VanHorn finished fourth with 3,828 votes.

Slaff and Zschunke received more than 1,500 mail-in votes, triple the amount that McCouch and VanHorn had garnered.

Voter turnout in the township's 18 precincts was 42.76 percent.

Meanwhile, in neighboring Hatboro, the four Democratic councilwomen were able to keep their seats, according to unofficial tallies.

Councilwoman Amanda Jacobus edged Republican challenger Todd A'Harrah for a two-year term, getting 1,380 votes while A'Harrah received 935 votes.

Councilwoman Nicole Sutton Reichner received 1,386 votes, Councilwoman Nicole McMenamin earned 1,352 votes, and Councilwoman Nicole Shay garnered 1,335 votes.

Republican challengers Tom Rafferty received 971 votes, Gary Blickley received 881 votes and Justin Platt garnered 862 votes.

Voter turnout at Hatboro's four precincts was 41.82 percent.

The Montgomery Board of Elections stated that all results are unofficial and are still being updated. The precinct indicator applies only to ballots cast in person. Results for all ballot types will continue to update after Election Day as some ballots require additional evaluation. Military and Overseas ballots can be received up to a week after Election Day.
