Memorial Park Gets $850K Grant For Improvements

HATBORO, PA —The borough is getting an $850,000 grant for a Memorial Park Improvement Project.

Borough officials said Wednesday that the grant is from the DVRPC 2023 TA Set-Aside Program.

The project will run in tandem with the Memorial Park ADA Playground Project and will include the installation of walking trails, a rain garden, and ADA work to the existing footbridge connecting both sides of the park, borough officials said.

Once completed, Memorial Park will be Hatboro’s destination for inclusive play and recreation of all types.

"This is amazing news for Hatboro," said State Rep. Nancy Guenst, who represents Hatboro. "With this grant money, they can continue to improve existing parks and trails and create inclusive recreation areas for all to enjoy."

The TA Set-Aside Program funds community-based “nontraditional” projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of the nation’s intermodal transportation system.

The TA Set-Aside Program continues to provide funds to build pedestrian and bicycle facilities, improve access to public transportation, create safe routes to school, preserve historic transportation structures, provide environmental mitigation, and create trail projects that serve a transportation purpose while promoting safety and mobility.
