HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The township will hold a forum Wednesday to present preliminary plans for its proposed Miracle League Field.

Township officials are seeking community feedback on the project at the 7 p.m. Wednesday meeting at the Horsham Township Municipal Building.

"Just as we have created homes for various youth and community sports activities in Horsham, our mission with this project is to provide a place where children and adults alike, with physical or cognitive limitations, have a place to exercise their mind and body while sharing experiences that are relatable," said Councilman Sean Wade, who is also a Horsham Miracle League board member. "We have made great strides as an organization to raise the required funds and designs to make this dream a reality."

Horsham Council recently heard a presentation about the project at a recent meeting.

Since then, organizers have met with Challenger League parents and the Horsham Little League field to gather feedback for finalizing the design and financial obligations of the project, Wade said.

Township officials are pitching the project as a centerpiece of upgrades to Deep Meadow Park on Horsham Road.

At a presentation before Horsham Township Council at its meeting last month, Miracle Field representatives pitched their plans so far for a field that is slated to open in the fall of 2024 with a target of September.

William Slaymaker, president of the board of directors for the Miracle Field of Horsham, told the council that the organization has been working over the past six weeks and has raised $1.8 million so far for the field.

Through its affiliation with Horsham Little League, the Miracle Field of Horsham will provide opportunities for individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities to play baseball and softball in a safe and inclusive environment where they will find comfort, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

In October, the Miracle Field team hosted a fundraiser that netted $35,000. During that event, state Sen. Maria Collett presented the Miracle Field board with a $500,000 state grant.

Township officials hope to get the plan for the field finalized and out to bid early next year with construction expected to start next spring.
