HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —It's almost Opening Day for the new Major League Baseball season at the end of the month. It's also almost opening day to break ground on the Miracle Field.

Miracle League of Horsham provided an update on the field, which is expected to open in April 2025 at Deep Meadow Park, to the Horsham Township Council at a recent meeting.

Bill Slaymaker and Nancy Kirby pitched plans to the council in an update especially geared toward new Councilwomen Samantha Slaff and Ellen Zschunke.

Kirby showed off the field's features: a drop-off area for players and equipment, an announcer’s booth, stands in front of the booth and on the sides of each dugout, an indoor sensory playroom, a sensory garden, and a fence around the outfield.

While community members are dreaming about this field's opening, Miracle League will be rounding the bases on a few other events first.

Stepping up to the plate will be an Opening Day 5K race on April 6 along with a groundbreaking ceremony right after.

The ground won't officially be cleared until Miracle League receives a permit from the state, construction is expected to begin this fall.

A remodeling firm is on board to help make the Miracle League of Horsham field a reality.

Harth Builders, a design-build remodeling firm serving the Central Bucks and Central Montgomery counties, will assist with creating a fully accessible soft-surface field for athletes of all ages with physical and cognitive disabilities.

Horsham officials have said they're hoping the field can be the gem to upgrade township parks around, serving as the centerpiece for upgrades to Deep Meadow Park.

Through its affiliation with Horsham Little League, the Miracle Field of Horsham will provide opportunities for individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities to play baseball and softball in a safe and inclusive environment where they will find comfort, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
