Montco Man Convicted Of Raping 10-Year-Old Girl: Report

Authorities said the child contracted a sexually transmitted disease ​from the incidents.

CHELTENHAM, PA — A Cheltenham man was convicted last week for the rape of a young girl, reports state.

The Times Herald reports that In Joong Kim, 68, was convicted for the assaults which occurred between April 2001 and March 2002.

The victim's family knew Kim, then 58. The victim was only 10-years-old at the time, the report states. Authorities said the child contracted a sexually transmitted disease from the incidents.

“This girl was so affected by what happened 15 years ago that even testifying today you could see the scars of trauma on her," the reported quoted Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney James Price.

Kim faces 45 to 90 years in prison on several charges of rape and aggravated indecent assault, court documents show.

The trial was delayed because Kim left the United States in 2002 while the investigation was underway and was arrested only in July 2016 at JFK Airport in New York as he tried to return to the country from South Korea.
