HATBORO, PA —Mr. Wish, a natural fruit tea store, will be filling vacant space on South York Road, among several new businesses that have set up shop in the borough over the past few days.

In giving her downtown development report during the Hatboro Council's last meeting, Cindy Bollendorf said that Mr. Wish will be opening at 133 S. York Rd. and that a convenience store will also be opening at 206 S. York Rd.

Bollendorf said the Mr. Wish location would be the franchise's 20th in Pennsylvania.

Bollendorf told the council that while there's been a lot of talk about empty storefronts, statistics don't necessarily support the chatter.

In 2020, the borough had 42 vacancies, including 19 on York Road, she said.

Last year, the number was 17 vacancies with 12 on York Road, Bollendorf said.

In terms of business openings, Hatboro had 15 new businesses in 2020, 20 in 2021, and 11 in 2022.

In the past year, Mr. Wish opened a location at 1116 Horsham Rd. in Horsham Township. Other nearby Mr. Wish locations are in Warminster, Southampton, and Abington.

Mr. Wish offers fresh, healthy tea beverages. The operation started in Taiwan.

It offers natural ingredients in its fruit-infused and milk-based teas, smoothies, macchiato coffee, and other selections. Featured teas include diced fruit tea with apple, pineapple, kiwi, orange, passionfruit, and kumquat.
