Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Building at College Settlement

First new building in 50 years will give day campers a great new gathering space

Horsham, PA June 12, 2017:

For the first time in many decades, Summer Camps at College Settlement has a wonderful new structure for its day camp. By the time summer camp opens this June there will be new 7,400 square foot multi-purpose building on the Kuhn Day Camp property at 598 Witmer Road, Horsham, PA. The construction has been moving quickly in the last month, and will be celebrated with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, June 17th at the Day Camp Building Site at noon. The construction site is located well off Witmer Road behind the camp swimming pool.

Board members, Horsham Township representatives, donors to the building, College Settlement Friends, neighbors and fellow residents are invited to come out for this ceremony which will be followed by a lunch with 70 camp counselors and staff.

College Settlement Executive Director, Rob Kutzik explains, “This new building will be used for our campers – offering a locker room with cubbies, modern bathrooms, a kitchen, a nurse’s office, a day camp summer field office, and a large Common Room. In the Common Room we will have a portable performance stage with audio-visual technology. The building will give our children a place to gather during inclement weather, to see and perform in plays, do arts and crafts, and share meals together indoors.” The construction of the building began early this year, and over $150,000 has been raised from individual and institutional donations.

At the Ribbon Cutting event there will also be acknowledgement to those who have thus far contributed to the funding for the building. “If there is someone out there who would like to recognize a loved one, this building still does not have a dedicated name.” Kutzik said. In addition there are a limited number of other naming opportunities associated with sections of the building.
