New Elementary School Approved For Construction In Horsham

The Hallowell Elementary School was approved at a township council meeting on May 13.

A new elementary school is coming to Horsham, the township council determined at a recent meeting.

The May 13 gathering approved the construction of the new Hallowell Elementary School. The existing school grounds also had its categorization changed from R-4 Residential to C-3 Commercial, with official saying that this would allow the old property to be combined with the adjacent Army Reserve Center building.

The current school property is over 50 years old, constructed in 1962. It can hold 400 students.

The new Hallowell will be designed for 600 students, with expandable room for up to 750.

The project is likely to cost about $31.26 million, officials said.
