New Emergency Management Coordinator Named For Hatboro
Fire Marshal Tyler Dermer replaces Hatboro Police Chief James Gardner in the post. Council also made its 2023 staff and board appointments.

HATBORO, PA —The borough has a new emergency management coordinator.
Fire Marshal Tyler Dermer was approved by Borough Council at its committee meeting Monday night to replace Police Chief James Gardner in the position.
With new Councilwoman Nicole Shay on board, the council also approved its staff and board appointments for the borough for 2023. Shay was replaced as well on the planning commission.

In regards to board appointments, there's one seat open on the Historical Commission and three seats available on the Parking Commission for anyone interested in volunteering.
Letters of interest should be submitted to Borough Hall at the attention of Manager Diane Hegele.

- Planning Commission: Thomas Smith was appointed for a term of two years and Keith Hibbs was appointed for a term of four years (both are new commission members).
- Upper Moreland-Hatboro Joint Sewer Authority Board: Current Member Alex Kalnajs was reappointed for a term of five years.
- Environmental Advisory Council: Current Member Judi Swanson was reappointed for a term of three years. Tom Bilotta (who served as president before resigning in 2022) is returning to the board and was appointed for a term of three years.
- Historical Commission: Current member Christopher Neapolitan was reappointed for a term of three years.
- Library Board: Current member Muriel O’Neill was reappointed for a term of three years.
- Human Relations Commission: Current member Suella Guthrie was reappointed for a term of three years.
- Parking Commission: New member Robert Hegele was appointed for a term of four years.
