HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —While construction continues on the new Keith Valley Middle School, the school board has made moves to keep the project progressing.

At its recent meeting, the Hatboro-Horsham School Board unanimously approved a change order to the Keith Valley Middle School project of $367,197.

The change order is for the removal of underground rock present in the building foundation footprint, said School Board member Jennifer Wilson, who made the presentation as the leader of the board's facilities committee.

The school board also approved an $88,545.26 allowance adjustment to Boro Construction for the removal of unsuitable soils in the building pad, which brings the total cost of soil removal to $153,000.

Wilson said that the adjustment will not increase the cost of the project.

She also stated that despite the change orders, the project remains about $131,000 under the bid awarded last December.

Meanwhile, the school board also approved a credit change order for $1,700 to complete the Hatboro-Horsham High School H-Wing ramp replacement project.

In late May, officials held a groundbreaking for the $125 million new Keith Valley Middle School.

The new school will replace the aging Keith Valley Middle School and is planned to open for the 2025-2026 school year.

After years of studies, a new school was considered the best of several options when the school board voted on the project late last year.

Construction began on the new school earlier this year.

The school district hired Schradergroup Architects to design the building, and D’Huy Engineering to provide construction management services. Click here to learn more about the project.
