New Refuse Ordinance Coming In Hatboro
After feedback from a recent Town Hall meeting regarding rising fees, Hatboro will draw up a new ordinance.
HATBORO, PA —Borough officials are planning on drawing up a new refuse ordinance following a recent special Town Hall meeting to discuss trash collection costs.
After receiving calls regarding recent fee increases, officials scheduled a town hall to address the concerns of residents and business owners.
Hatboro is one of a handful of communities that handles its garbage collection —and it does it twice a week.

The borough follows a code of ordinances which were established years ago. While times have changed, the solid waste ordinance has not.
Over the past few years, the council and staff have reviewed, changed, and updated the borough's ordinances and said the solid waste ordinance is next on its list.
The ordinance states that all non-owner-occupied residential properties and commercial properties must pay a fee for refuse removal.
Borough Staff gathered data and gave a presentation last year to help educate residents and businesses on the actual costs of trash and recycling collection.

Officials said ordinance changes would need to be made this year to be included in the 2025 municipal budget.
