HATBORO, PA —There's no cause for alarm. The Second Alarmers aren't going anywhere.

After posts on two separate community pages Sunday morning stating that the borough was selling the South York Road building that houses its rescue squad, borough officials put out a statement to squash the false reports.

"This morning (Sunday) posts were made on two separate Hatboro community pages that stated the Borough was selling the building they own that currently houses Second Alarmers," the borough said in a Facebook post. "These posts were purely a rumor."

Borough Manager Diane Hegele and Assistant Chief Ken Davidson both responded from their personal Facebook pages to quickly dispel the rumor as well.

"The borough has a contract with Second Alarmers and we are and have been working with them to ensure that they continue to provide the same top-notch service they have provided their communities, which includes Hatboro for more than 85 years," borough officials said.

Assistant Chief Davidson has presented before at Council meetings and has told the Borough and the community that EMS agencies across the state are in crisis and now more than ever need help from the municipalities they serve.

Borough officials said they have a good working relationship with Second Alarmers and continue to work together to work through this crisis.

"Borough Council is committed to making sure our residents, business owners, and visitors have the highest quality services by our police, fire and EMS (Second Alarmers)," officials said.
