No School At Hatboro-Horsham Schools Friday Due To Weather Warning

A winter storm warning begins at 4 a.m. Friday, as parts of the Philadelphia metro could get 4 to 6 inches of snow.

HATBORO-HORSHAM, PA — District officials canceled classes for Hatboro-Horsham students and closed all buildings Friday, due to an incoming snowstorm that could make travel conditions dangerous for staff and students.

Year-round district staff will work remotely, and essential employees (including maintenance and custodial personnel) will receive direction from their supervisor, the district website said Thursday evening.

Forecasters issued a winter storm warning for eastern Montgomery County beginning at 4 a.m. Friday and lasting until 10 p.m. Snowfall is scheduled to begin Friday morning and could bring 4 to 6 inches of accumulation.

"We are facing steady snow from the early morning throughout the day," the district said Thursday evening. "While snow totals may not be extensive, any snow on top of an already frozen ground will make clearing of the roads and walkways throughout the day difficult, creating hazardous conditions."

The National Weather Service advised people in the Philadelphia metro area to avoid driving on Friday, "as road conditions will deteriorate as the day progresses."

The metro area has not had a winter storm warning since Jan. 29, 2022, so it has been close to two years since there have been significant impacts from snow in the area.
