Oil, Gas Leak Reported In Hatboro Creek

Hatboro officials said emergency personnel responded to the leak which caused a sheen on the creek near Memorial Park on Thursday morning.

HATBORO, PA —Borough officials are alerting residents regarding an oil/gasoline leak around the creek at Memorial Park on Thursday morning.

Borough officials said at 9 a.m. Thursday that emergency personnel from Hatboro and Upper Moreland Township were dispatched to 330 W. Moreland Ave. due to reports of a sheen observed in the creek accompanied by a strong odor of fuel.

The Enterprise Fire Company, Hatboro Public Works, Hatboro Fire Marshal, and Willow Grove Fire Company promptly responded to the issue and determined that the sheen was a result of an oil/gasoline leak in the creek.

Emergency Personnel immediately worked to determine the responsible party and notify appropriate agencies including the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) as well as place booms in the creek to prevent further spreading.

At this time, J&J Spill is working to clean up the area and remediate the issue.

Residents may see personnel in or around the creek at Memorial Park, Eaton Park, and downstream as the cleanup process takes place.
