HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Have you seen the traffic cones?

You may have spotted them around a section of Dresher Road, Gibraltar Road, Prudential Road, and a section of Witmer Road.

Horsham Township officials said the cones are concrete bases for 86 new pedestrian lamps, part of $1 million in lighting upgrades coming to the business park.

The idea behind the lighting is to sustain the PA Lifestyle Campus and the 555 Flats apartment complex, officials said.

Officials also want to make the campus come alive and provide safety after sundown for employees and residents.

The new lighting will provide walkability after sundown, atmosphere, safety, and security to pedestrians.

Township officials expect the lamps to arrive in late February with installation planned for early March.

In mid-August, the Horsham Township Council approved awarding a $1,061,651 bid to Carr and Duff to install the lights.

Township Manager Bill Walker said the lights will make the area more pedestrian-friendly and attractive to new businesses.

Walker said the township received three bids for the project with the lowest being awarded to Carr and Duff.

The other two were for $1,272,232.12 and $1,191,611.81.

What may also be significant, Walker told the council at that time, is that all three bids for the first time since inflation came in under the township's budget of $1.5 million.
