Pennsylvania's Fitzpatrick 398th Richest In Congress: How They Rank

Just how rich are your representatives? Here's how Pennsylvania's national lawmakers stack up.

Representative Mike Kelly from northwest Pennsylvania is the state’s richest member of the United States Congress, and the 42nd richest overall.

That’s according to Congressional Quarterly’s Roll Call, which recently compiled its annual “Wealth of Congress” Index for 2015.

Philadelphia’s Rep. Chaka Fattah, who represents the Roxborough-Manayunk area, is among the poorest Congressmen, ranking 532nd. Fattah has been indicted on multiple charges relating to fraud.

Rep. Ryan Costello (R-Chester) and Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) were among the less rich as well, ranking 444th and 398th, respectively.

Kelly, whose headquarters are in Butler, Pa., has a net worth of $8.73 million, according to the Index.

His district includes the Marcellus Shale Oil deposits, and he has become a leading conservative voice supporting the controversial natural gas and fracking measures in the Keystone State.

Kelly’s fortune came from car dealerships, but Roll Call says that much of his net worth is from his wife Victoria’s stock portfolio.

Kelly is the only Pennsylvania U.S. Congressman among the 50 richest in the nation. The list is headlined by California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, founder of Viper car alarms.
