Philadelphia Sports Legend Dick Vermeil Lends a Hand in the Fight Against Alzheimer’s Disease During April 11 Fundraising Event
Former Eagles Coach Dick Vermeil will speak at Commonwealth National Golf Club on Friday, April 11.
Former Philadelphia Eagles’ Coach Dick Vermeil and The McKeown Foundation will team up in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease on Friday, April 11 from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm at the Commonwealth National Golf Club in Horsham, PA for a dinner and wine tasting event.
The event will feature dinner from the culinary staff of Commonwealth paired with four award-winning rare vintage selections from Napa Valley Vermeil Wine. Live entertainment, as well as a silent auction will also be featured.
“We are thrilled that the legendary Dick Vermeil has agreed to work with The McKeown Foundation in the fight against Alzheimer’s.” said Joe McKeown, President of The McKeown Foundation. “It’s gratifying to know that Coach Vermeil along with so many others recognize the importance of providing support for patients and families affected by this terrible disease.”

Vermeil rose to prominence in the late ‘70s when he became the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles taking the team to the first Super Bowl in franchise history in 1980. Vermeil would go on to coach the St. Louis Rams to the only Super Bowl win in franchise history in 2000. Vermeil then coached the Kansas City Chiefs until he retired after the 2005 regular season.
Since retirement, Vermeil has been busy crafting award-winning wines with his Vermeil Wines label based in Napa Valley, California. Since its inception, Vermeil Wines have won several gold medals including gold medals at The Dallas Morning News and TexSom Wine Competition and The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

The event is sponsored by Vermeil Wines, The Commonwealth National Golf Club, 94WIP and Penn Medicine’s Penn Passport program.
All proceeds from tickets and the silent auction will benefit the McKeown Foundation. The McKeown Foundation was established in 2007 by the family of the late William J. McKeown, Jr. to support individuals and families affected by the disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually the ability to carry out the simplest tasks of daily living.
