Pothole Concerns Addressed In Hatboro

Hatboro public works crews are repairing potholes throughout the borough after numerous winter storms.

HATBORO, PA — Public works crews are out fixing the numerous potholes from several winter storms.

Borough officials are sharing information about where residents should report potholes as the public works department addresses residents' complaints by actively filling potholes, and assessing all roads within the borough's jurisdiction.

Borough officials noted that not all roads within the 19040 zip code are maintained by the borough. Some roads are state-maintained, and others are privately owned.

The borough does not maintain state roads, as state tax dollars are responsible for their upkeep.

The borough has reported potholes on state roads within its boundaries by contacting state officials and filing reports on the state website.

"We have done as much as we can to address this situation," officials stated.

Regarding the lot behind Gamburg's, which is known for large potholes, officials confirmed that multiple private property owners own the property.

All owners have been notified in writing to fix the issues. If repairs are not made as per code, the borough will pursue further steps in accordance with legal permissions. Residents are advised to use caution in that lot.

For Warminster Road between County Line and Byberry, utility companies that performed work are required to restore the road to its original condition.

These companies have informed the borough that they are working to secure a contractor for repaving. PennDOT has also been contacted to repair York Road near Crescent.

The Hatboro Borough Council has an ordinance that requires utility companies to restore roads after their work.

To report potholes, residents should call PennDOT at 1-800-349-7623 for state roads, Montgomery County at 610-292-5022, or Borough Hall at 215-443-9100 for borough roads.
