HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The impact of Thursday's storm is still being felt by some residents in Hatboro and Horsham several days later.

Hatboro and Horsham Township officials reported that some residents are still without power following a storm Thursday night that brought high winds to the Philadelphia region, causing damage to trees and power lines in both communities and also prompting road closures.

Horsham ChATs said that as of Monday morning, there were three power outages due to the storm near a tree that went down on Moreland Avenue and in the Hidden Creek neighborhood.

Following Thursday's storm, Horsham ChATs reported that 33 percent of the township was without power. Horsham ChATs said that 3,252 homes were without power in 28 separate outages.

Meanwhile, in neighboring Hatboro, borough staff participated in a Sunday call with PECO about the power outages.

Hatboro officials said that PECO was reporting "major progress," restoring power to almost all of its customers.

PECO was using 2,600 additional tree and line workers from nine states, supplementing their 3,000 employees.

"They are aware that this storm came at the worst time during the first heat wave of the summer," borough officials said. "There is going to be some longer wait times for those in areas with low customer counts without power."

The borough is waiving collection rules for yard waste and debris pick up for the next week due to the storm.
