HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —With the region entering another heat wave this week, Horsham ChATs is urging residents to protect their pets from extreme temperatures by not leaving them in vehicles when they run errands.

Horsham Community Police Services said that temperatures rise very quickly in vehicles and put dogs and cats at risk.

"It is important to remember our responsibilities to our four-legged friends," Horsham ChATs said.

Horsham ChATs said that the Animals in Distress law (Act 104 of 2018) authorizes public safety professionals to remove dogs and cats —or any animal —from unattended vehicles when they are deemed to be in imminent danger by any means.

The law, though, does not authorize members of the public from removing animals from vehicles.
