Public Invited to Free Screening of Screenagers at Keith Valley Middle School on Jan. 18
Movie focuses on the challenges of parenting in the digital age
The average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at a screen. This number accounts for recreational time and does not include time spent completing homework and school assignments. Kids may be connected, but many parents are concerned that their children are not engaged and tuned in to the world around them.
To underscore the issue and move the conversation between parents and children forward, a free screening of the movie Screenagers is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at Keith Valley Middle School. This is a prime opportunity for parents and children to examine the impact of social media, video games and internet addictions on family life.
The filmmaker is a parent and physician whose children were “scrolling” through life. By documenting her experience and the experiences of others, the director’s goal is to help parents and children better understand what occurs when digital devices take priority over relationships.
