Recycling Collection Not Changing In Horsham
A Waste Management letter was sent to some township residents that recycling would be collected every other week. The letter was an error.
HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —It was an error.
Some township residents received a letter recently advising them that their recycling collection would be shifting to every other week starting in October.
The letter stated that beginning Oct. 1, Waste Management would begin recycling on an every-other-week service schedule. The company said that residents' weekly waste collection or service charges would not be changing.

"We are taking this step to provide a more effective service to our customers by reducing fuel usage, controlling increased costs, and maximizing our collection service efficiency," Waste Management said in the letter provided to Patch.
Waste Management said it would contact customers about the new schedule sometime in September and included a customer service number while also thanking customers for their business.

"We appreciate your assistance with the upcoming change," said the letter signed by Waste Management of the Greater Mid-Atlantic Area.
Residents in one of Horsham Township's Facebook pages spoke about the letter and the changes but said they received word that the letter was erroneous.
That was confirmed by Township Manager Bill Walker on Thursday.
Walker said that township ordinance requires all trash haulers operating in Horsham to collect recyclables at least once a week.
He said Township Code Enforcement spoke to Waste Management about their notice of recycling pick-up once every two weeks.
They were advised by Waste Management that the mailer was sent out in error and that the recycling pickup service is not changing for township residents.
Waste Management is working on sending out new mailers to Horsham residents to correct the error, Walker said.
