Retiring Horsham Planner Recognized For 30 Years Of Service

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —For 30 years, E. Van Rieker had his hands in every land development application that made its way through the township.

But with retirement on the horizon, a proclamation has found its way into Rieker's hands instead.

At Monday night's meeting, the Horsham Council recognized Rieker with a proclamation for his years of service to the township.

"We congratulate E. Van Rieker for his 30 years of planning services to Horsham Township. He has since become a valued member of the Horsham Township Community, and we extend our well wishes to Mr. Rieker in his upcoming retirement," township officials said.

In 1993, the council appointed Rieker as its land planner.

Since then, he has been involved in every land development application and all revisions and amendments to the township's subdivision, land development, and zoning ordinance.

Van has worked closely with elected officials, municipal staff, the township engineer, and project architects to provide services reflective of the needs of the Horsham Township Community, officials said.

The council awarded St. Vincent de Paul a $750 check from proceeds of the 5th Annual Carpenter Cross Cyclocross Bike Race this past September.

The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, located in the church hall at St. Catherine of Siena Parish Horsham, operates every Saturday morning and helps feed and provide weekly support to more than 100 families in our community.
