Robert Ruxton, Former Horsham Police Chief, Dies
Ruxton retired in 2014 after serving as Horsham's police chief for 19 years.

HORSHAM, PA — Robert H. Ruxton, the former chief of the Horsham Police Department, has died, the department announced.
According to a social media post from the police department, Ruxton, who served as police chief for 19 years before retiring in 2014, died Thursday.
Ruxton began his career with Horsham Police in 1973. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served as a member of the Horsham Fire Company.

He was a past-president of several law enforcement organizations, including the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, the Police Chiefs Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Montgomery County Police Chiefs Association.
On Friday, the police department thanked those who have reached out since word of his death was announced.

"Bob Ruxton touched so very many lives both here in Horsham and throughout the law enforcement community," the department said on Facebook. "Your kind words are no doubt a comfort to his family during this most difficult time."
No obituary or funeral information for Ruxton had been made public Friday afternoon.
