80 PA Police Departments Cracking Down On Drivers: See List

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — More than 80 police departments from multiple southeastern Pennsylvania counties are joining state police in a new law enforcement campaign targeting aggressive drivers.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced the campaign Monday and said police departments from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties will join state authorities to crack down on distracted driving, speeding, and other aggressive or unsafe driving behaviors.

The campaign's goal is to "reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities on area roadways," PennDOT said in a statement.

According to state data, there were 1,297 aggressive driving crashes in 2023, resulting in 39 fatalities and 99 severe injuries in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

Officials said aggressive driving crashes involve at least two aggressive driving behaviors in the same crash. Behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, tailgating, careless turning or passing, and driving too fast for conditions.

During the campaign, state officials said any aggressive driver stopped by police will receive a ticket.

The campaign runs through April 28, officials said.
