HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — State Rep. Melissa Cerrato doesn't know where the time has gone. But anyone who would look at her schedule would understand why the calendar is flipping through quickly.

Cerrato — a Democrat who serves as the state representative in the 151st Legislative District — has announced her second re-election bid, which will launch with a petition signing on Feb. 28. See flyer below

Patch interviewed the Horsham Township resident after she had completed her first year as a state representative. Now she is running for her third term in Harrisburg after unseating longtime incumbent Todd Stephens, now the district justice of Hatboro and Horsham.

"Time flies," Cerrato, who was first elected at age 40 and just turned 44 recently, told Patch. "I'm now starting my 4th year."

Cerrato, though, is a blur of activity. She posts her attendance at events throughout her district on Facebook regularly, writes her own weekly newsletter, travels to Harrisburg for PA House sessions, and tries to spend quality time with her husband, children, and two dogs.

Cerrato serves 64,000 constituents in Horsham Township, Ambler, Upper Dublin Township, and Montgomery Township.

"I'm pretty proud of what we've accomplished," Cerrato said, adding that she has gotten two of her bills signed into law during her tenure. "Do I wish we could do more? Of course."

Cerrato also cites her efforts to work "across the aisle" with her Republican counterparts, especially "during these times of unrest."

What Cerrato isn't so thrilled with is having to often run for re-election because state representative terms are only two years.

"You're always running for office every other year," she said.
