HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —State Rep. Melissa Cerrato has been hitting the streets in her 151st Legislative District this past week as she collects signatures to get on the ballot for her re-election bid in the April 28 primary election.

What she didn't expect to experience was vandalism.

Cerrato said that vandals damaged the sign outside her local legislative office near the corner of Horsham and Norristown roads on Wednesday.

"So this happened," Cerrato said in a Facebook post. "Luckily, the paint was still wet and my team was able to clean it off."

Cerrato told Patch Wednesday night that she believed the vandalism was an "isolated incident" since she hasn't had any issues since taking office in January 2023.

Cerrato reflected on her first year in office in an exclusive Patch interview recently.

The state representative said that she did contact Horsham Township Police Chief Scott Fida and was told that the police department would keep an eye out.

"As long as my team is not in danger then it's just a nuisance and nothing more," she said.

Cerrato serves 64,000 constituents in Horsham Township, Ambler, Upper Dublin Township, and Montgomery Township.
