Storm Update: Threat Downgraded In Some Areas

The threat from a storm that moved into the area overnight has been downgraded in some parts of the region.

A Winter Storm Warning has been downgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory in Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, with two to four inches expected later today.

In Delaware and Chester counties, a Winter Storm Warning remains in place, with four to six inches still possible.

In the areas north of Philadelphia, where the accumulation predictions have been decreased, snow is expected “late today through the overnight hours,” according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.

It could fall at a “moderate rate” at times, according to the NWS.

The storm is likely to impact the evening commute throughout the Philadelphia region.

“A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities,” the NWS said.

In Chester and Delaware counties, residents should prepare for significant impacts, the NWS said.

Snow there will accumulate during the day and the evening and could fall at a “heavy rate” at times, especially later in the day, the NWS said. ”Road conditions will likely deteriorate during times of heavier snowfall rates.”
