For Thanksgiving, Hatboro Police Targeting Seat Belt Use

Hatboro will be one of 250 law enforcement agencies devoting half of their enforcement time after dark to increasing seat belt use.

HATBORO, PA — Hatboro Police will be hitting the roads extra hard in the coming days as part of an effort to encourage seat belt use during the busy Thanksgiving travel season.

Police Chief James E. Gardner announced Tuesday that Hatboro Police will participate in day and night seat belt enforcement activities as part of the national Thanksgiving "Click It or Ticket" program. The mobilization runs from Nov. 19-Dec. 2.

During that time, Gardner said, there will be extra traffic enforcement patrols scheduled in Hatboro. It will be one of 250 law enforcement agencies devoting half of their enforcement time after dark to increasing seat belt use.

According to PennDOT 2017 statewide data, 378 people killed in crashes were not wearing a seat belt. This program is made possible through funding provided by PennDOT.
