Trash Piling Up At Hatboro Apartment Complex, Residents Say

Residents say trash has been piling up for three weeks, leading to an "awful smell," bugs, and wild animals.

HATBORO, PA — Residents at a Hatboro apartment complex say that their community trash dumpster has not been collected for three weeks, leading to a number of concerning issues.

Photos taken of the dumpster at Livingstone Apartments on Tuesday shows it completely overflowing, with several large bags, boxes, tables, mattresses and other assorted trash littering the surrounding area.

Patch has reached out to both Livingstone, its managing company Aion, and the dumpster company, Republic Services, for comment on the situation. The former two had not yet responded as of publishing time. A representative for Republic Services said in an email that the company was looking into the issue and that they would "follow up" with Livingstone.

Livingstone, which is located on 240 E. County Line Road, has a number of one and two bedroom apartments in their two story complex. "We have on-site maintenance to handle any problems that might happen to occur," they write on their website.

Residents told Patch that it's not just a matter of the smell - which was described as "awful" - but that the garbage has attracted unwanted guests. Namely, mice, bugs, and other wild animals, especially in the night.

Since the dumpster has been overrun, trash is being kept on decks or piled outside doors, according to residents.

Residents said that they contacted both Livingstone and the dumpster company to inform them of the situation, but nothing was done.
