HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Speeds are "troubling' in the township's school zones.

That's what Horsham Community Police Services revealed Thursday after the Horsham Township Police Department's Traffic Unit conducted speed enforcement activities in school zones over the past several days.

"These zones are put in place to help keep our children safe and we ask that you please watch your speed when school is in session," Horsham ChATs urged residents and motorists.

"The results of the enforcement effort were rather troubling with several motorists stopped traveling well in excess of double the posted limit," Horsham ChATs said.

The speed limit in school zones is 15 mph.

Horsham Community Police Services is reminding motorists that violations of section 3365(B) of the PA motor vehicle code governing school zones carry up to a $500 fine and three points on a driver's license.

"Please take a moment and think about your speed when traveling through a school zone when school is in session. A fine and points aren’t the worst thing that can happen if you speed through a school zone," Horsham ChATs said.
