
The Upper Moreland Police Department has issued a "citizen alert" to the general public regarding an increase in crime during the holiday season.
Police said that during late December and early January, crimes like thefts from vehicles and burglaries from homes typically increase.
The best way to prevent these types of crimes is by ensuring vehicles and homes are locked, police said.

"Thieves look for targets of opportunity and unlocked cars and unsecured homes offer inviting targets to criminals," police said.
Anyone who observes any suspicious activity is asked to call 911 immediately.
