Warming Center Set Up For Power Outages In Horsham

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Residents are recovering from high winds that left many without power late Thursday, forcing the township to open its community center to offer power, shelter, and warmth.

Horsham Community Police Services opened its community center Thursday night as a warming center after a "large power outage" throughout the township.

Horsham ChATs said that while most power was restored Friday morning, there are still some without power.

At this time, there are 11 PECO customers without power including some in the Blair Mill West apartment complex, which impacted over 300 people Thursday.

The Horsham Library will open at 10 a.m. Friday and will serve as the township's warming center Friday with temperatures expected to stick in the mid-30s. The center will be open until 5 p.m.

Residents can bring their electronic devices to charge. The library has restrooms but no showers or food. The library is located at 435 Babylon Rd.

There were two weather-related calls on Thursday.

Fire Police were dispatched at 7 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of Easton and Meetinghouse to assist with traffic control due to the signal being out.

At 7:53 p.m., units were dispatched to the 700 block of Lower State Road to the Adison Apartments for a fire investigation call.

Horsham ChATs thanked its Department of Emergency Management Shelter Operations Team, Police Chief Scott Fida, and our Township Manager Bill Walker, who helped get the warming center set up and stayed the entire evening with personnel to assist township residents.

Horsham ChATs said the township would continue to monitor the situation until power is fully restored to all residents.
