Whiteside, Wade Will Lead Horsham Council Again

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Despite joining the Horsham Township Council a few months ago, Councilman Eric Glemser has been given additional responsibilities.

The Republican councilman —who was sworn in to replace Councilwoman Theresa Harmon in mid-October —was appointed as treasurer of the council during its reorganization on Monday night.

Republicans have a 3-2 majority on the council, meaning that longtime Councilman William Whiteside III was named for the second straight year as president along with Councilman Sean Wade as vice president.

Democrats Samantha Slaff and Ellen Zschunke round out the five-member board. The two councilwomen will begin their second year after breaking Republican domination on the board.

Slaff was the top vote-getter in the 2023 general election while Zschunke beat out Council President Mark McCouch, who served 20 years on the council, by 11 votes.

Zschunke, a school library media specialist, said in her Patch election profile that she and Slaff hoped to bring a balance to the 3-2 Republican-led council and ensure that residents are represented, well-informed, and respected.

Glemser was nominated by the Republican party to replace Harmon, who resigned in late August after serving three years on the council.

But his appointment was delayed because Republicans could not get a majority council vote. The decision had to go before the township's vacancy board before Glemser could join the council.
