The contractor informed the borough that the road would need to remain closed until about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to allow excavation to take place. Once this is performed, Williams Lane will have one lane open to allow residents, business owners, and deliveries to access the area.
To complete the work before Sunday's holiday parade, Williams Lane will be completely closed between York Road and Orchard Avenue Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., borough officials said.

The road will be open to traffic between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. when work is not taking place.
The borough has notified emergency services of this closure accordingly.
At this time, the contractor believes all work can be completed by 4 p.m. Thursday.
However, if Williams Lane needs to be closed on Friday, the contractor will inform the borough, and residents and business owners will be notified.
Borough policy requires proper notification when closing roads, and this contractor did not follow, officials said.
Notification is required for non-emergency work so residents can access neighborhoods, emergency vehicles can properly respond to emergencies, and our businesses do not experience issues with operations or deliveries.
