Winter Storm Coverage Detailed In Hatboro-Horsham

Hatboro and Horsham public works crews are out and about Tuesday clearing snow and getting ready for a possible winter storm this weekend.

HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — While public works crews continue to clear roads in Hatboro and Horsham Township, officials are detailing how the winter storm on Sunday was covered and how workers need some rest before more weather hits the region.

Horsham Township officials said they sent public works crews home after 36 hours of covering the storm to see their families and get some much-needed sleep.

"It was a challenging storm with the snow amounts, the wind, the sleet, the freezing rain, and the cold temperatures," officials said. "We know all streets and roads are not perfect. One thing is for sure, we are not going anywhere, and we are not going to stop."

Township officials said they will remain in "clean-up phase" for a few days.

Road crews will continue to salt and plow roads, push snow back to curbs and shoulders as needed, and shovel and salt township-owned sidewalks. Snow will also be hauled out of the cul-de-sacs.

Officials said road crews come back to plow snow to make things easier for school buses, mail delivery, trash collection, fire trucks, ambulances, delivery trucks, etc. The Hatboro-Horsham School District has closed schools for the past two days due to weather conditions from the storm.

Meanwhile, in neighboring Hatboro Borough, officials said its public works crews started working at 3 a.m. Sunday.

"These are the heroes of Hatboro," officials said. "They care, they are dedicated, and they work hard. The one thing that these employees cannot do is predict or control Mother Nature, they can only do their best, and like all storms, they came to work ready to serve the residents of the borough."

Hatboro has completed plowing operations and lifted its snow emergency.

Officials are encouraging residents to avoid pushing snow into borough streets. That's a violation of a borough ordinance and could result in a fine.
